Five-year-old Evelyn Miller was reported missing in the early morning hours of July 1, 2005, from a Floyd, Iowa, apartment where she lived with her mother, Noel Miller, two brothers, and her mother’s fiancé, Casey Frederiksen. Five days after she went missing, a recreational kayaker found Evelyn’s body in the Cedar River about 2 miles from her home.
