Case Number: 66-00724
May 26, 1966
On May 26, 1966, the body of a white male subject was found in the Missouri River near mile marker 662.62. The subject’s body was in somewhat advanced stages of decomposition and identification has not yet been made.
When the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) established a Cold Case Unit in 2009, this case was one of about 150 unsolved crimes listed on the Cold Case Unit’s new website as those the DCI hoped to solve using latest advancements in DNA technology.
Although federal grant funding for the DCI Cold Case Unit was exhausted in December 2011, the DCI continues to assign agents to investigate cold cases as new leads develop or as technological advances allow for additional forensic testing of original evidence.
The DCI remains committed to the resolution of Iowa’s cold cases and will continue to work diligently with local law enforcement partners to bring the perpetrators of these crimes to justice for the victims and their families.

With a limited amount of information, the only person I saw on the Doe Network that could POSSIBLY be the un-id male is Daniel Jess Goldman. He is from Florida, however, but from the research I did the Mississippi goes through Florida and flows into the Missouri river. Obviously I’m not saying this is the for sure identification, just a POSSIBLE identity. It’s hard to know though with only having his skin tone.
… and to think all this time I was under impression the Mississippi River flows North-to-South (like all but around 20 in the US) from MN and drains into the Gulf of Mexico, never coming anywhere near FL, and it’s the Missouri River that drains into the Mississippi River…
With little information there is no hope for identification. Also I would bet they have discarded his remains by now.
They need to do DNA testing!
Praying this gets solved!!
I was only 11 when this took place and at the time my great uncle Mike Racobs was the sheriff. I still remember hearing him tell my mother and father the story and for an 11 year 0ld it was disturbing
How could he be claimed, nothing written about him, no hair color, no height, no weight, no race.
No age. Nothing. Pretty hard to ID any one this way.
Is there any other information about this case? What was he wearing? Have you thought about entering in the info in the doe network?
I agree, whoever this was has a family out there who needs closure
i think it is a shame that this poor individual has never been claimed. was there any identifying marks, tattoos, etc that they can tell us about. what about DNA testing if they have any ideas who this might be. I think that they have given up on the man totally. just so sad in my opinion
