Grace Esquivel, 25, the mother of a 6-year-old daughter, Angie, was reported missing to the Mason City Police Department in Mason City in June 1983. Grace resided at 1619 N. Pennsylvania Ave. in Mason City.

Her daughter spent the night of June 10 with her grandparents, Manuela and the late Armando Esquivel, while Grace said she was going out with friends.

According to reports, when Grace’s parents brought Angie home the following day, Grace was not there.

Grace’s bed was found turned down as if someone was ready to go to bed, and her wallet and driver’s license were left behind.

At the time of her disappearance, Grace was described as a 4-foot-11 Hispanic 25-year-old female with brown hair, brown eyes, and weighing about 140 pounds.

I went to High School with Grace. I assume the police would have talked to the “friends” she was out with the night she went missing. I wish for her daughters sake the killer is found and that Grace’s body can come back home where she has always belonged.

It really makes you wonder about the cops back then doesn’t it. Back then a cop could get by with murder. If they didn’t feel they could communicate with her friends due to language or racist based morals…. cops back then had zero accountability…. and you are stating they never interviewed the people she was supposed to be with??? That makes for a darn good reason to start over on this case.
