Sue, I checked Floyd Cramer and came across a Find-A- Grave entry for him. It basically has the date he died 12/9/1960. It appears the Des Moines Police made no effort on his supposed murder.

I use that term, since there is no mention that an autopsy was conducted to determine a cause of death for him.

Sue, I have found that a lot of records from Iowa are not on Ancestry for some unknow9reason. If anything there should have been a Social Security Death Index entry. But then he died in 1960.

The other surprising thing is there is no mention of him having a family, unless he was estranged from his family.

The other problem is how can the public help with the investigation when we have no information to work with. We don’t know how he died, where he died, or any other detail related to him being murdered.

It is sad that the police department decided to keep most of anything from the public. Yet, it appears the present leadership has not made an effort to release more details. b

That is the problem with some of these cases. Also, how many missing persons cases from around the country have no other details then the person’s name, age and when last seen. As a former police officer & detective with the Veterans Administration Police, it was drilled into us at our hospital to did up as much information as possible.

There is no age or date of birth information on Mr. Cramer, unless he had no further identification information on him. But, I would think that a major police department, would have done some further digging to see what they could find. A minimum would have been to send his fingerprints to the FBI, and see if they had any records of him. He could have been served in the military, or had a minor criminal record.

I’m wondering if maybe he wasn’t a homeless man, and they were weren’t able to find anything on him or if the police (at the time) didn’t care enough to dig any deeper.

? Noi circumstances as to how Mr. Cramer’s body was found? Any indication how he died? No details as to his personal life at the time, etc.?

  5. Sue says:

I went on Family Research Later Day Saint’s website to see if anything came up on him. Nothing about death date. Several F. Cramer of Iowa did come up with with variations of spelling on name. I was hoping that death date would come up. Do you have any other information on him, like age, homelessness, was he positive id, to help locating his life prior to his death. This man is a ghost in more ways than one.
