Pierre H. Davis, 25, of Rock Island, Illinois, was shot and run over by a vehicle in the early morning hours on Sunday, August 5, 2017, in Davenport, Iowa.

Police were dispatched to the 100 West 55th Street area at approximately 7:49 a.m. Sunday for a person who’d been struck by a vehicle sometime overnight.

The victim was pronounced dead on scene. 

Davenport police and the Traffic Safety Unit are investigating the hit-and-run.

Pierre H. Davis, 25, of Rock Island, died Sunday, August 6, 2017, in Davenport.

Services were private on Friday, August 11, 2017, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Burial was at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.

Pierre was born in Moline, Illinois, on December 2, 1991, a son of Phyllis Davis and Edward Charles Gatewood.

Pierre last worked with his brother at HD Enterprises in Rock Island. He enjoyed playing PlayStation, listening to music, and being a funny guy. He loved spending time with his family, especially his three children.

Pierre Davis is buried at Chippiannock Cemetery in Rock Island.

Those left to cherish his memory include the love of his life, Shannon Crittendon, Rock Island; son, Raquis Davis; daughters, Cherish and Raquel Davis; mother, Phyllis Davis, Rock Island; siblings, LaRica, Howard (Katherine), Pierce, Charlia, Precious and Paris Davis, all of Rock Island; grandmother, Janet Lee, Rock Island; aunt, Tangela Franklin; uncle, Terry Davis; nieces and nephews, Ri’coyah Price, Rhyca Fullerlove, Howard Davis III, Kingslee Davis and Adrian Hicks; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father and best friend, Savon Johnson.
