John P. Adams, Jr., 23, of Omaha died from a single gunshot to the head on July 11, 1982, after an altercation in Council Bluffs, Iowa, with two men riding motorcycles.

A witness told police the fight started in Omaha after a traffic confrontation.

Witnesses said the two motorcyclists had been arguing in the street by 25th and West Broadway and that when the victim approached one of the two men, the offender shot the victim in the face.

Adams fell to the ground in the 2400 block of West Broadway Street.

The suspect — described as 18-20 years old, tall with dishwater blond hair, clean shaven and wearing a type of white golf shirt and blue jeans — was seen leaving the area riding northbound on North 25th Street on a Candy Apple Red Kawasaki KZ900.

A parking lot full of people witnessed the shooting, but no one reported seeing anything, and witnesses frustrated investigators by giving conflicting descriptions of the men and their motorcycles.

John Adams was born April 30, 1959, in Nebraska.

His murder remains unsolved.

Would be amazing to find out who killed my father. Almost 41 years of wondering why someone would do such a thing.
