Oct. 20, 2020 — First-degree murder charges have been leveled against two more men for their alleged roles in the March 5, 2017, killing of 18-year-old Demetrius Jerome Gregory Allen Jr.
The Scott County Attorney’s office on Tuesday charged 24-year-old Darryl Merritt of Cahokia, Illinois, and 22-year-old Dyon Thomas of East St. Louis, Illinois, in the shooting death and robbery of Allen, whose body was found in the parking lot of Brady Street Stadium.
Both Merritt and Thomas already are incarcerated in the Iowa Department of Corrections.

Oct. 16, 2020 — Davenport police have made an arrest in the March 5, 2017, robbery and shooting death of 18-year-old Demetrius Jerome Gregory Allen Jr.
Chontez Lamont Graham, 24, of Jefferson City, Missouri, is charged with one count each of first-degree murder, first-degree robbery and flight to avoid prosecution.
The murder charge is a Class A felony under Iowa law that carries an automatic sentence of life in prison upon conviction.
The robbery charge is a Class B felony that carries an automatic prison sentence of 25 years, and 70%, or 17 ½ years, must be served before parole can be granted.
Flight to avoid prosecution is a Class D felony that carries a prison sentence of five years.
According to the arrest affidavits filed by Davenport Police Detective Ann Sievert, Graham and two others robbed Allen and shot him multiple times.
Graham and his co-conspirators took Allen’s money and other belongings.

Demetrius Allen, 18, was found dead of gunshot wounds March 5, 2017, in the parking lot at Brady Street Stadium, 3600 Brady Street in Davenport.
Police responded to the area following a report early Sunday of someone lying in the parking lot on the northeast corner of the stadium. They found the man deceased at the scene.

Demetrius Jerome Gregory Allen, Jr., 18, of Davenport passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017, in Davenport. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation was held one hour prior to services. Per family’s request, cameras were not allowed during the services. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolence may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

Demetrius was born January 21, 1999, in Davenport, son of Demetrius Allen and Wendy McDonald. He graduated from high school in 2015. Demetrius enjoyed drawing and rap music.
Those left to honor his memory include his parents, Demetrius Allen and Wendy McDonald; five sisters; six brothers; two grandmothers; a grandfather; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, great-grandmother and one brother.
