Charles Elmquist, 34, went missing from Iowa City, Iowa, on November 16, 1979. His 1961 blue GMC van was located on November 17, 1979, parked in the University of Iowa Hydraulics Laboratory storage lot.

At the time of his disappearance, Charles was described as a 5-foot-10 white male weighing about 125 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety lists his incident type as “Disabled,” which applies to a person of any age who is missing and under proven physical/mental disability or is senile, thereby subjecting him- or herself or others to personal and immediate danger.

    Thank you for your work. I keep hoping one day I will be able to help. I wonder if you could verify the age of the victim. You are prob just over worked ! Peace.

      I wonder about the part about where his vehicle was found at the University of Iowa Hydraulic Lab, storage lot. It sounds suspicious, but he might work there or was attending classes at the university.

      There is no explanation of where he was last seen. There is no mention of family or friends in his case. We are left to speculate instead of using the necessary tools to find him.
