On Friday, January 26, 2018, Davenport Police were called to the 1300 block of Warren Street and found that 17-year-old Angel Herrera had been shot.

Police responded to the scene at 11:15 p.m. Herrera was taken to Genesis Medical Center-East Rusholme Street and then transferred to University Hospitals, Iowa City, where he died the following day.

His death marked Davenport’s second shooting homicide in 2018.

On Wednesday June 27, Angel would have turned 18 years old.

Angel’s family deserves to see justice.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $3,000 for information that leads to an arrest of the person responsible for Angel’s murder.

Angel Sebastian Herrera, 17, of Davenport, IA passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018. Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. prior to service. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family. Angel was born on June 27, 2000 in Davenport, IA to Maria Huizar and Arnold Herrera. He worked at Ganzo’s Mexican Restaurant. He was a hard worker and had a strong work ethic.

Angel loved spending time with his family, especially his cousins. He enjoyed listening to music, playing video games, fishing, and also eating. He was a typical teenager who also enjoyed his alone time in his room.

Survivors include his parents, Maria (Mike Garcia) Huizar and Arnold Herrera; siblings: Moises Herrera, Adan (Selena) Herrera, Omar (Junelle) Herrera, Alysia Herrera, Cody Williamson, Joshua Ewing; grandparents, Gerardo and Ana Huizar, Francisco and Maria Herrera; aunts and uncles: Gerardo (Juana) Huizar, Margarita (Jorge) Lopez, Araceli (Oscar) Flores, Grace (Carlos) Ojeda, Maria (Ignacio) Mar, Ana Herrera, Griselda Herrera, Francisco (Angela) Herrera, Alejandro Herrera, Alonzo Herrera, Edwardo (Stacy) Herrera; nieces: Isabella Herrera, Adalina Herrera, Aria Herrera; girlfriend: Celeste Lira, and many cousins and friends.
