Our web hosting server, InMotion Hosting (IMH), is scheduled to be moved after midnight tonight to IMH’s new state-of-the-art data center facility in the downtown Los Angeles area.
We did not initiate the change; IMH is simply expanding their service and relocating some of its servers.
According to a Nov. 13 email from InMotion Hosting Systems Administration:
Your server will be securely manually relocated by a member of our data center operations team. Our personnel will stay with your server during the transition to the new facility until server connectivity is fully restored. Upon completion of the move, your server will enjoy enhanced benefits such as faster uplink speeds upstream, advanced newer network switches, newer PDUs, superior increased reliability, and other world-class such improvements.
During your move, your services will temporarily be offline. The move will take place after 11 PM local time (PST) on November 14th, to ensure minimal disruption to your service. You can expect between 2-4 hours of downtime for us to complete this work, though we expect the actual downtime will be less for most customers.
For Iowans, this means the approximate 2-4 hours of downtown will occur between 1 and 5 AM early Tuesday, Nov. 15.
InMotion Hosting also noted that during the server migration, any emails that are undeliverable will be retried and delivered once the server comes back online. “We believe that once completed, these significant upgrades will greatly enhance your hosting experience,” the email said.
Note: Should IMH run into any problems or if there are any other delays (it’s a lot of data to move), I will post updates on the Iowa Cold Cases Facebook page.
Thank you for your patience, and we’ll look forward to seeing you again tomorrow.
All best,
Jody @ ICC
