Nine years ago today, Erin Kay Pospisil vanished without a trace from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The 15-year-old Metro High School freshman was last seen getting into a dark-colored Chevrolet Cavalier with tinted rear windows in the 100 block of 12th Street SE on Sunday, June 3, 2001. Although Erin’s friends didn’t recognize the car, Erin seemed to know its occupants and climbed in without reservation.

At the time she went missing, she was clad in a light-colored tank top and wore beige overall shorts. She was 5′ 3″, weighed 130 pounds, had brown eyes and brown hair with red highlights. She has a small scar over one of her eyes.

If you have any information about Erin Pospisil’s whereabouts, please contact the Cedar Rapids Police Department at 319-286-5400 or 319-286-5491 or the Iowa Department of Public Safety Missing Person Information Clearinghouse.

For what it is worth to Erin’s family and friends, I remember. I care.

I am just an Iowa mom, who can only imagine the horror of not knowing where a precious child is.

I offer prayers that someday you will have answers.

Thanks so much for your comment, Teri. I’m an Iowa mom too, and know exactly what you mean. Most of us couldn’t imagine facing a single day with what Carolyn and Erin’s family have had to face for thousands of those days. As time marches by and friends and neighbors wonder if to speak or what to say, yours convey it all: I remember. I care. They are healing words. Thank you again for writing.

      Jody
