Richard Forsyth was last seen in Waterloo, Iowa on October 18, 1979, leaving his apartment and carrying something wrapped in a rug. He has never been heard from again.
There has been some speculation that his disappearancei is connected to the disappearance of another Waterloo man, Steven Kirchhoff, who disappeared in 1978. Forsyth paid cash for a Cadillac a week after Kirchhoff disappeared. Nothing has been uncovered to officially link the two cases. Both disappearances remain unsolved.
