San Luis Obispo, CA -- Armed with new DNA evidence, Sacramento police have arrested a man in connection with a 30-year-old unsolved homicide. The suspect, 57-year-old Robert Lee Blockton, was arrested Monday on suspicion of stabbing to death a former high school classmate in November 1980.

The 10-year-old would rather sit and hear the adults talk about her mother, Lisa McCuddin, than go swimming with her brother and cousin. Kasia, as her grandmother calls her, remembers her mother even though she was only 4 when Lisa McCuddin, 23, was shot and killed Oct. 2, 2004, as she rode in a car on Kenyon Road. Officials believe the shooting was related to a brawl that occurred at the Eagle's Club the previous night during a rap party. McCuddin was working the door that night and helped organize the event.

Mason City Globe Gazette -- The body of Norma Jean Horgen, 18, of St. Ansgar, was found Sept. 10, 1966, floating in Clear Lake. John Rea Wallace, 45, a Las Vegas, Nev., veterinarian, was charged in 1992 with first-degree murder for allegedly drowning Horgen. The charge was dismissed in February 1993 when a judge ruled that the indictment was tainted.

Cold Case Killer Sentenced to Prison
A Nebraska man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for a 1998 killing in southeastern South Dakota. James Strahl of Dakota City, Neb., was sentenced Tuesday in a Union County court on charges of manslaughter and grand theft. The 42-year-old Strahl had been convicted in 2007 of murdering William O'Hare at O'Hare's farm near Beresford and given a mandatory life sentence without possibility of parole.

Not much more than that is known about the man and his murder, except that it is the oldest of 52 unsolved Quad-Cities area murders discovered during a search of Dispatch/Argus files and of old police records by officers.
