Homer Brownfield, 43, and his wife, Rose, 41, were shot to death in their store along the Lincoln Highway near Low Moor on Friday November 3, 1922. In 1924, a man confessed twice to the murders but was found to be lying from mental imbalance. In 1925, two other men were charged but then cleared of the charges.
