On Tuesday morning, September 30, 1947, two men on their way to work at Credit Island Park in southwest Davenport discovered the body of 34-year-old Margaret Treese. Treese lay in tall grass 30 feet off the entrance road to the park and had been beaten, stabbed 19 times and run over repeatedly by a car.
