On Christmas Eve, 1983, Ronald Lee Novak, 24, was bound with his hands tied behind his back, beaten with golf clubs and firewood, shot in the chest, and then left in an unheated room of his rural Center Point residence. He was found deceased with his three golden retrievers lying with him in efforts to keep him warm.
