1924
When 60-year-old William Snyder of Malcom died in 1924, the story was not reported by newspapers.
In August 1926, however, Poweshiek County Sheriff Robley F. Gregson announced to the newspapers that he believed Snyder died “under mysterious circumstances.”
Snyder’s body was exhumed and examined by County Coroner E.S. Evans in the presence of the Sheriff, County Attorney R.W. Body, Rex Bramer, and E.R. Bramer.
Although the body was decomposed, Coroner Evans found no skull fractures, no evidence of poison, and no “missile” or bullet.
William Snyder was reburied, his death still mysterious.
