Thursday, May 20, 1996 was a bright, clear, and mild late spring day in Des Moines, a beautiful background to an ugly and violent act.

It was the day Robert D. “Bob” Scott, 43, was murdered while driving his taxi in the 1000th block of E. 12th Street.

The case has never been solved.

Robert Scott is memorialized in the Taxi Driver Memoriam List on the website Taxi-Library.

Scott is one of nearly 3,000 taxi drivers from around the world who have been murdered on the job as of 2011.
