Justice of the Peace Jesse Chambers Leasure, 59, was found dead in his bed on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 11, 1910 in Iowa City.

There was a large quantity of cyanide in his home.

Leasure was recently suspended from the local chapter of the Ancient Order of United Workmen for which he was Financier and Recorder after 500 dollars went missing from the group’s accounts and the memberships of other men were canceled by the national organization.
