On Wednesday night, January 28, 2004, Des Moines Police were called to Tommy’s Hickman Pub at 2355 Hickman Road after gunshots were heard in the parking lot at 9:00.

Inside the crowded bar officers found 45-year-old Wayne Camp, Sr., who staggered through the doors seeking help before collapsing from several gunshot wounds. Although critically injured, Camp survived.

Jeremy J. Spencer, 27, was found dead in a car outside.

Des Moines Police issued a material witness warrant for Kevin Jenkins, 42, and posted a $1,000 reward for information to help solve the case.

The Life of Jeremy Spencer

Jeremy Jebadiah Spencer was born March 27, 1976 to Quincella and Raymond Spencer, II.

Visitation was held at Nichols Funeral Home and funeral services took place on February 3, 2004 at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church in Des Moines.

Jeremy was survived by his parents; a sister, Edna Spencer; a brother, Raymond Spencer, III; his stepfather Jessie Patton; and his six children — Jeremy J. Spencer, Jaquan T. Spencer, Jautis J. Spencer, Jaymauzea J. Spencer, Yazhawn T. Spencer and Nygil A. Webb.
