Flint Hardy was stabbed in the heart during an argument at a woman’s Davenport apartment in the early morning hours on Friday, April 27, 1984.
According to police, a neighbor called in a disturbance at approximately 12:49 a.m. from an apartment complex located in the 1200 block of Marquette in Davenport.
When police and medics arrived, Hardy was still alive. Medics transported Hardy to a local hospital, where the victim was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m., shortly after arrival.
Davenport officials said a verbal argument at the apartment had turned into a physical fight that resulted in Hardy being stabbed.
An autopsy indicated the 22-year-old Davenport man died from a single stab wound to the heart from a filet knife.
Hardy had been visiting an apartment rented by Marta Goodwin, 29, a Philippines native and the current wife of former Davenport city assessor Ted Goodwin, 83. The couple were married in 1979 but had been maintaining separate residences.
Police questioned Marta Goodwin — who lived at the apartment with her two children — but released her pending further investigation.
Goodwin was not charged in Hardy’s homicide, and the case remains unsolved.
