On Wednesday, November 22, 1995 – the day before Thanksgiving – Martha "Marty" Erickson, 47, was found near a gravel road in the Avon Lake area. Erickson died of a single stab wound, and bruises on her face indicated she also was beaten. It was determined she probably died between 24 and 48 hours before her body was found.
